The  Men  Splish  &  Splash  Guide

May 2025

You’ve seen our women’s swim guide (hopefully, maybe?), and now it’s time to turn the spotlight to men’s swim looks for the season. Sure, the old-money aesthetic that’s taken over our feeds these past few years is timeless, but we’re calling it: this summer is all about having a little more fun with your wardrobe. Think bolder colors, unexpected textures, and maybe even a print or two. It’s okay to wear something other than white linen, and we’re here to help make that happen.

Like our women's Splish Splash Guide, we have organized our men’s looks into similar categories, tropical fruits! First up: The Pomegranate for the social butterfly meets secret intellect type. Next, we have The Pineapple, an outfit for the guy who turns every trip into a story that becomes your go-to anecdote. Then there is The Papaya, the go-with-the-flow friend who’s mere presence keeps the vacation disagreements at bay. The Mango is an outfit fit for a summer day that leads to an inside joke you’ll still be referencing 20 years later. After that, we have The Coconut, a hard-to-crack friend that will have your back when the time inevitably comes. Finally, The Dragon Fruit, the guy who adds so much aura to the group, the trip could never be boring.

Because what better time to show your personality and stand out in a sea of “European summer aesthetic” outfits than with swimwear?

The Pomegranate

The Pomegranate is the kind of outfit that has all the elements needed to be the center of attention, without ever looking like it was planned that way. It’s for the guy who reads impressive novels on his phone so no one sees him flaunting that buzzy cover; someone who actually has depth and doesn’t feel the need to shove it in your face (if you find this guy, please report back immediately). The crisp white tee is classic and unfussy, paired with red swim shorts that add just the right amount of boldness to prove you’re still capable of being the life of the party. A denim overshirt adds structure and quiet intrigue—perfect for writing your thesis in your Notes app at the beach or casually referencing Greek philosophy as a flirting technique. Accessorize with a black rose detail baseball cap that says, “I probably run a startup” with a sports-style sneaker and recycled tote bag for an earthy feel. It’s the kind of outfit that makes you seem like a healthy, smart choice, without losing any flavor… basically, a pomegranate in human form.

The Pineapple

If you gravitate toward this look, you're telling us you know how to have a good time, and you're definitely not afraid to order a piña colada now and then. This is the outfit for the guy who somehow always ends up extending his trip by at least a week. By the time you see him next, he’ll be casually dropping stories about finding a secret beach with locals or that one day he went surfing with Jack Johnson. Begin with a crochet shirt to channel the texture of a pineapple and some neutral-toned swim shorts to show you are ready to have a good time, but you also won’t be a liability. Accessorize with it some brown square sunglasses and a robe bracelet to show you are capable of following through on a plan, but you also have comfortable sneakers and a brown tote to help you say yes to every spontaneous side quest. Like the pineapple: interesting, adaptable, and always good company.

The Papaya

The guy wearing this outfit is an essential addition to any vacation. Not only does he know all the hot spots you won’t find in a travel guide, but he’s also the perfect mediator between every personality type. He helps everything run smoothly, and his whole aesthetic just encourages harmony. For this laid-back look, you’re wearing loose striped pants with a graphic tee featuring papayas (obviously). Swap in the cobalt swim shorts when the day shifts gears, and it seems like everyone could use a refreshing swim. The blue sunglasses, rubber slides, and asymmetric sling bag add a dose of quiet preparation—because yes, you can be into meditation and still know the best local tequila bar. This look is relaxation personified, because how can you get upset when papayas are involved?

The Mango

Everyone loves mango. And mango knows it. This fruit is the star of every fruit plate, cocktail, and rice bowl, just like you will be in this outfit. It’s made for the guy who always has a one-liner ready, keeps the group moving, and convinces his friends to finally talk to the girl they’ve been eyeing. It’s impossible not to have fun wearing these orange-pocket swim shorts. Pair them with a grey sweat tee for a little balance. Add a yellow bucket hat for sun protection that’ll make everyone else rethink their loyalty to baseball caps, and clear-framed sunglasses, because a little mystique never hurt anyone. Finish it off with technical sneakers and a canvas tote, and you’re ready for anything: a beach day, a coveted NYC backyard hang, or just a long walk that turns into something better.

The coconut

We don’t want to hear a word about how a coconut isn’t a fruit, it is, we looked it up. This outfit is for the friend everyone’s a little intimidated by at first; they take some effort to crack, but once you’re in, it’s all substance, no fluff. This is the most steady person in the group: adaptable, low-drama, and somehow everyone’s favorite by the end of the trip. The structured cream button-up and matching shorts are clean, minimal, and just guarded enough to keep you guessing. Suede clogs and a striped market tote soften the look, like a perfectly timed dry joke that catches you off guard. The green baseball cap and pendant necklace offer subtle glimpses of a personality you have to earn. This one’s not trying to impress you with loud talking or bright colors, but if you put in the work, you’ll find it was absolutely worth it.

The dragon fruit

The Dragon Fruit is all intrigue. There’s a layer of defense to keep unwanted energy at bay, but on the inside, it’s cool, collected, and easier to get along with than you'd expect. This outfit is understatedly cool, it’s for the guy who grabs the attention of any room he walks into without even trying. Pair it with a neutral windbreaker that says, “I don’t check the weather, I just adapt,” and black technical swim shorts that are unfussy, functional, and ready for anything. Accessorize with some simple sunglasses for even more intrigue and an oversized tote that makes people wonder where you’ve been, and where you’re going next. Finish it off with technical sneakers that show you’re not following trends, you’re already three steps ahead. It’s an outfit that’s loud in its own way but confusing enough to make people want to know what’s going on inside.
