Styling  favorites  guide

july 2025

It’s the middle of summer, and it feels like every paycheck disappears the moment it hits our accounts, flights, Airbnbs, and all the other “essential” travel expenses seem to drain it instantly. Who has the budget for an entirely new wardrobe every weekend away? We’d choose fashion over food any day, and even we can’t keep up. That said, outfit repeating is good for the planet and good for the soul. Cutting down on clothing waste is something we could all stand to do, and figuring out a fresh way to wear the same pieces is basically a brain-boosting exercise. To help us all save a little cash (and sanity), we’ve rounded up seven key items that bring new life to our repeat outfits. With these in the mix, we promise each look will feel just as good as it did the first time around.

The Slide Pin

We’ve seen the claw clip, the puny cuff, and the French pin all make their triumphant comebacks—so we think it’s time for the slide pin to have its moment. It’s sleek, understated, and effortlessly cool, which is more than we can say about our hair after five minutes outside. Since the summer humidity makes it almost impossible to wear our hair down anyways (unless you gave in the the summer bob lifestyle which makes you smarter than the rest of us), we may as well add a little fun decoration to our updo. Plus, now you’ll have an excuse to photograph the back of your outfit for once!

The Sheer Midi Skirt

Think of the sheer midi skirt as more of an accessory than a piece of clothing here. Since it’s see-through, it does require a little styling, unless you are planning to get a ticket for public indecency. The beauty of it is how many ways it can transform an existing outfit. Throw it over a little pair of shorts and it functions like a traditional skirt. Layer it under a button-down and suddenly it’s an extra funky twist on your everyday look. Use it as a totally unnecessary (but highly appreciated) swimsuit cover-up to elevate your beach vibe. Or, if it’s long enough, pull it up over a nude bodysuit and boom—now it’s a dress. More versatile than you expected, right? So yes, technically it’s a new piece of clothing, but it’s a super duper versatile one, so it’s worth it.

The Bangles

We know bangles have already been trending this summer, but luckily, they’re not going anywhere anytime soon. And while we fully respect the dainty fine jewelry collection you’ve been curating for years, it’s time to go for a bolder statement on your wrists in the name of maximalism! A funky stack of bangles can instantly elevate an outfit—from looking a bit plain to giving off “expert stylist” energy. It’s all in the details, after all. Trust us, that little black dress you’ve worn a dozen times? You are bound to get way more compliments on it when you add in some crazy jewelry to round out the look!

The Oversized scrunchie

This trend is for everyone who’s tired of blow-drying their hair for 30 minutes, only to tie it up an hour later when it starts clinging to their neck. We’ve all tried to force our hair down during the summer, but honestly, why fight it anymore? It’s time to surrender to the heat and save ourselves some time. Enter: the oversized scrunchie. The easiest, cutest summer hairdo that’s practically begging to become your new go-to. Think of it as a slicked-back bun with a whimsical twist. And it even serves as a fun pop of color to an otherwise monochromatic outfit!

The Shell Buttons

WE LOVE THIS TREND. So no complaints about it being a real piece of clothing instead of an accessory, okay? Yes, we hear you, but also, we don’t care. If you’re feeling crafty, grab some mother-of-pearl shell buttons from your local craft store (or Amazon, no judgment here) and sew them onto a simple tank for your own DIY version. Not into sewing projects? Don’t worry, we’ve linked some very fun options below that do the work for you. This button-detail top is the perfect way to breathe new life into those slightly boring bottoms you’ve had on repeat. Pair it with some jeans or that black mini skirt we’re sure is sitting in your closet, and voilà: a fresh take on a go-to outfit.

The Ceramic Jewelry

Bold charm jewelry is having a major moment right now, and our niche take on the trend? Ceramic details. There’s just something about them that hits the sweet spot between playful and polished. It adds a splash of color and subtle pattern to your outfit without requiring you to commit to a full-on print. They’re perfect for those days when your outfit feels a little too simple but you’re not in the mood for something loud. If you really want to lean in, we recommend going the Etsy route and picking a piece made from a broken piece of china or hand-glazed tile. Not only are you supporting a small artist, but you’re also guaranteed a one-of-a-kind accessory that tells a story. Consider it the grown-up version of collecting trinkets!

The Wide Belt

Every time we walk into a vintage store, we make a beeline straight for the belt section. In our opinion, nothing pulls an outfit together, or instantly makes it cooler, quite like a great belt. It’s the unsung hero of styling, the finishing touch that makes you look like you really thought about your outfit, even if you didn’t. We’ve especially fallen back in love with wide belts. They have a magical way of unifying pieces that otherwise feel like they don’t belong in the same outfit. Got a random top and bottom that just don’t seem to work together? Throw on a wide belt, and suddenly they’re soulmates. Whether it’s cinching in a slouchy dress, adding structure to oversized layers, or just giving your look that extra bit of dimension, a wide vintage belt might be one of the most low-effort, high-impact additions you can make to your wardrobe.
